Richard Burton (李察波頓) 朗讀 Dylan Thomas 的詩 'Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night'

Richard Burton (李察波頓) 朗讀 Dylan Thomas 的詩 'Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night' (link)
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

還是要堅決地 'Do not go gentle into that good night'?(link)

You’re feeling it, aren’t you?
That survival instinct -
that’s what drove ME,
that's what drove all of us,
and it's what gonna save us.
It's gonna save all of us.
For you, Cooper.

I’m sorry I can’t.
I can't watch you go through this - I am sorry.
I thought I could but I can't.
I’m here.
I’m here for you.
Listen to the sound of my voice, Cooper.

You are not alone.
Do you see your children?
That's ok.
They are right there with you.

Did Professor Brand tell you that poem before you left?
Do You remember?
’Do not go gentle into that good night’
'Old age should burn and rave at close of day;'
'Rage, rage against the dying of the light.'

第一句 'Do not go gentle into that good night' 有受聖經經文影響, 事實上我要用聖經經文來理解整首詩。

“Why do you call Me good?” Jesus asked him.
“No one is good but One-God.
詩人 Thomas 希望讀者讀了第一句, 心中會問詩人說 'Why do you call the night good?'
'Though wise men at their end know dark is right',

Ecclesiastes(傳道書)第一章開頭:
The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem.
“Absolute futility,” says the Teacher.
“Absolute futility.
Everything is futile.”
詩下來用good men, wild men 有教養的, 野蠻的人來回答。
grave (形容詞) ~ serious, solemn,
grave man near death,
但這只是詩表面的意義, 因為 grave (名詞) ~ tomb, 所以實際上 grave men 是墳中之人, 是 grave men in the death.

What does a man gain for all his efforts
that he labors at under the sun?

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

After this, Job began to speak and cursed the day he was born. He said:
May the day I was born perish, and the night when they said, “A boy is conceived.”
If only that day had turned to darkness! May God above not care about it, or light shine on it.
May darkness and gloom reclaim it, and a cloud settle over it. May an eclipse of the sun terrify it.

If only darkness had taken that night away!
May it not appear among the days of the year or be listed in the calendar.
Yes, may that night be barren; may no joyful shout be heard in it.

Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind. He said:
Who is this who obscures My counsel with ignorant words?
Get ready to answer Me like a man; when I question you, you will inform Me.
Where were you when I established the earth? Tell Me, if you have[a] understanding.

只怕今世中的 rage, rage against the dying of the light 會變成審判後在恆久火湖中 (lake of fire) 的哭叫咒罵。

Then he said to me, “Write: Those invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb are fortunate!
